Here are Five Things we learnt and just had to share.

1.   Review your Bank Statement(s)

This is so important and it is the first step to knowing where you are, financially. Your Bank Statement is sure to tell you what the real situation is, so you can draw up a plan.

      2.  Break it Down
When analyzing your finances, it is key that you break it down into, Expenses and Income, and then further into, Monthly expenses, One-off expenses, Monthly Income… This is to enable you have a blueprint, so to speak.

      3. Set Realistic Goals
When you have goals, it is easier to hold yourself accountable. You can also set rewards for when you reach a Goal that has been set.

On Reality:
You cannot earn N200,000.00 a month, and spend N150,000.00 and still expect to save N1,500,000.00 at the end of the year. The more realistic your goals, the closer you are to accomplishing them.

      4.  Have Money Conversations
Have financial conversations!!! With your friends, partners and family. it is important that you are financially aware and encourage those around you to be also. This way, you encourage and foster a community of people in charge of their financial lives.

      5.  Do not Panic!
Okay, so you have been working for 6 years and you have no savings. Maybe if you get fired now, you will barely be able to feed for the next month. That is okay. The first step is realizing that there is a problem, so what are you going to do about it? Panic will not help matters, but taking steps and making active decisions to improve your lifestyle will.
